Care & Connection: A New Program Coming Soon
Many adults experience moments of loneliness or disconnection—feeling isolated, lacking people to talk to, or wishing for a stronger sense of community. To help address these challenges, the Clarkston Community Center (CCC) and the Prevention Research Center at Georgia State University (GSU) are partnering to develop a new program focused on improving connection, belonging, and everyday well‑being.
About the Upcoming Program
Care & Connection is an 8‑week group program designed to bring people together in a supportive, welcoming space. The program combines guided mindfulness practices with a shared weekly activity—such as crocheting, tai chi, or gardening—offering participants a chance to slow down, learn helpful skills, and connect with others.
Each session will include:
- Mindfulness discussion and practice
Simple, practical skills to support calm, presence, and emotional grounding. - A group activity
A single creative or movement‑based activity practiced across the 8 weeks to build comfort, confidence, and shared connection. - Reflection time
Participants end each session by thinking about what they learned and how they might bring it into daily life.
No prior experience in mindfulness or the group activity is needed.
Where and When
The program will take place at the Clarkston Community Center and will be offered in small groups of 8–10 participants. More details—including session dates and enrollment information—will be announced soon.
