Clarkston Underpass Mural Begins: A New Chapter in Community Art

A new mural is coming to life beneath Clarkston’s underpass — a powerful public art project led by the City of Clarkston in collaboration with Living Walls. This project is a celebration of creativity, culture, and connection, and the Clarkston Community Center is proud to be a strong supporter of this community-driven effort.

This week, the talented artist Trudy began painting the first section of the underpass mural. Her first day on site was full of creative energy as she laid the foundation of the mural using a bold orange color, which will serve as the base layer of her vision. Trudy’s unique technique allows the design to unfold organically, layer by layer, as she works toward completing her final piece.

On Day 2, Trudy returned with her assistant to continue painting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., adding more detail and depth to the wall. With each brushstroke, the mural is transforming the underpass into a vibrant space that reflects the culture and spirit of Clarkston.

This collaboration is more than just public art — it's a shared expression of community values and storytelling. The Clarkston Community Center has been involved and supportive from the very beginning, ensuring that this project remains rooted in local voices and artistic excellence.

We’re excited to see the progress unfold and can’t wait to share more updates as Trudy brings her full vision to life.
Stay tuned for more photos, behind-the-scenes moments, and reflections from the artist as this mural continues to bloom.
