Position: Camp Coordinator Intern (2)

Job Purpose

The Summer Camp Coordinators will share the day-to-day responsibilities for the STEAM-Plus Summer Camp with the Camp Director. The Camp Coordinators are responsible for the coordination, operation and support of programs ensuring their effective and cohesive operation on a day-to-day-basis; the training, support and supervision of all staff and volunteers; camper wellness and the administering of medications and first aid; administration where/when applicable.

This position requires you to enjoy being around kids from 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, have an affinity to teach, support learning, literacy and artistic expression. Everyday is different; the job will keep you on your toes and hard work is balanced with a great deal of fun.

General Responsibilities

      • In collaboration with the Director of programs  and the Associate Coordinators:
      • Plan and deliver required staff training components
      • Proactively identify and solve problems and areas of concern for staff, campers and volunteers
      1. In collaboration with the Associate Coordinators:
      • Inventory all supplies and set up for Teaching Artists
      • Actively participate in planning and delivering summer staff training
      • Help Support Camp special events/ Performances
      • Plan and disseminate weekly program schedules for all activities to staff and management
      • Greet and welcome all campers, staff and volunteers each day
      • Orient all campers to camp rules on first day
      • Relieve counselors as required
      • Remain visible and accessible to staff and campers
      • Coordinate daily cleanup of all teaching artist and food distribution areas and weekly clean up of all camper and staff accommodations
      • Attend Day Camp morning circles
      • Contribute to weekly staff meetings re: leadership, camper concerns, volunteer support etc.
      1. Meet daily with Associate Coordinators and the Director of programs to discuss and evaluate the success of camping programs as needed
      2. Adhere to and support all camp policies and procedures as detailed in the Staff Manual
      3. Report all accidents/incidents and program concerns to the Director of programs
      4. Assume designated role of Interim Camp Director/(Director of programs) in the event of an emergency or absence
      5. Maintain high levels of staff morale and conduct by providing mentorship and support to staff and volunteers as well as teen CITs (Counselors in Training)

Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities in relation to Staff and Volunteers

      • Check in daily with all counselors
      • Proactively identify and work to resolve counselor concerns and problems in a timely manner
      • Report major staff issues to the Camp Director
      • Conduct weekly staff meetings re: leadership, camper concerns, volunteer support etc
      • Assign and oversee daily and weekly site clean up by counselors and campers
      • Ensure staff and peers adhere to and support all camp policies and procedures as detailed in the Staff Manual
      • Supervision of parent pick up and enforcement of $1 per minute late fee collection
      • Ensure high levels of staff morale by providing mentorship and support to all counselors and monitor and support all counselors to ensure that the Clarkston Community Centers objectives and mission are met
      • Oversee and support all volunteers during their placements throughout summer
      • Provide direct assistance to all program areas (including setup when necessary) and provide counselors with support, ideas, ongoing feedback
      • Set up and clean up for breakfast and lunch with documentation for both numbers served and numbers left over

Administration

      • Report issues related to staff, camper or volunteer wellness to the Executive Director/Summer Camp and Outdoor Education Director/designate
      • Ensure completion of all relevant medical forms related to camper, staff or volunteer injury or illness
      • Act as direct liaison with parents, campers, and staff to ensure program success when necessary
      • Tend to general first aid incidents and resultant documentation
      • Fill in for and relieve counselors as required
      • Submit a Final Report detailing the summer’s progress/success, making any recommendations for next season and any other constructive comments
      • Coordinators may be asked to assist in duties not listed above.

 

Position: Marketing and Communications Intern

Description: The Marketing and Communications Intern must be a dynamic, self-starter to assist Executive Director in marketing and communications efforts. This position will provide the valuable experience of working on a variety of communication projects involving website maintenance and social media, as well as preparation and execution of special event marketing materials.

Application Deadline: Available year-round; schedule may be flexible

Responsibilities:

      • Update and maintain CCC’s social media presence, including daily monitoring, posting, scheduling and reporting Facebook updates under the direction of the Executive Director
      • Draft articles, organize content and coordinate printing/distribution for CCC’s e-Newsletter
      • Designing flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for major events hosted by CCC
      • Update the CCC website when needed
      • Assist Executive Director with programming and implementation of additional special events as scheduled
      • Attending monthly Events meeting
      • Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications
      • Assisting in other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

      • Strong interest in marketing, events and non-profit communication
      • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
      • Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)
      • Previous related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
      • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus
      • An effective communicator, both written and oral
      • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with community contacts
      • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

Position: Volunteer Coordinator Intern

Description: The Volunteer Coordinator Intern should be outgoing and detail-oriented. This position coordinates with all the other staff members to determine the volunteer needs of the organization. The Volunteer Coordinator Intern is responsible for the recruitment, placement, and retention of the Volunteers.

Responsibilities:

      • Monitor and update the Hands on Atlanta Webpage
      • Schedule interviews with perspective helpers
      • Give tours to volunteers
      • Provide and/or schedule training sessions
      • Coordinate with other departments to identify needed volunteers

Qualifications:

    • Must be computer savvy
    • Be an effective communicator, both written and oral
    • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with community contacts
    • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
